Infernalists, demon-worshipers, dark mages, whatever you call them, the Horde represents everything that is feared about magic and those who wield it. Led by Supreme High Lord Gog and his four lieutenants, the Horsemen. The Horde mages harness the power of the infernal Abyss, drawing the strength of hell and its denizens into their sphere of control. The stronger the mage, the stronger the demon they draw their powers from. Rumor persists that Gog has managed to draw the powers of the Morningstar itself.
The Empire of the Horde, based out of the Black Tower in the heart of Manhattan island, rules over the fallen world, treating humans like animals. Millions were killed when the Horde arose, burning away it hellfire in what was known as the Cullings - a clever name for nothing more than the systematic genocide of humanity. The humans that now live and are trapped in the realm of the Horde live in fear, a true nightmare. Some or made into slaves, some hunted for sport or traded with the vampires of the Undercity, and others live and die in the Pens, a hellish place where the dark mages experiment in cruel and sometime pointless ways on their human cattle.
For as much power as they wield, the mages of the Horde are still mortal. They grow, they age, and eventually, they die. Some of the darkest (and most corrupting magic) allows the mages to extend their lives beyond normal circumstances and some believe that if he has the power of the Morningstar, Lord Gog has the power of an ageless life.
